I was asked by L.A-based Cornerstone Records to design Gift Of Gab’s latest EP, Escape 2 Mars. The brief was to feature a Mayan Skull on the front and some sort of Mars landscape on the back. Despite what ended up happening to it all, I really do like this version and am glad to have experienced talking to the artist and getting a different kind of brief.

Illustrator Jasper Goodall has pumped out this great new series of work titled ‘Poster Girl’. Fusing his distinctive illustrative style with shiny latex and photography, Goodall explores themes of fetish and fantasy which seem to be ever present in his portfolio. Interesting observations have been made about how over time the colour pink has become associated with sexyness (along with it’s sexual partner black) and how the shininess of polished latex becomes almost fluid-like in texture when stretched over a body. Furthermore, shininess itself seems to have become sexy, whether it’s on a human body (suggesting lubrication) or whether it’s a shiny new car, people often refer to shiny objects as being sexy. To read more of the rationale visit the original post here. These works can be seen at Goodall’s personal website and his earlier works at Big Active

Check these Adidas Superstars I have started drawing on. I have only worked on two sides so far: One is the ‘Ninja Scroll’ side with Tessai and Jubei Kibagami, then the other is the ‘Fushigi Yuugi’ side with Tamahome… although that is still unfinished. More to come!

Whilst looking around for inspiration for my next job, I came across Mexican Illustrator Sam Flores. This guy has some pretty cool characters going on. Huge hands and kicks on top - cool!

A logo I just designed for recently formed Californian hip hop duo Rootbeer, aka Pigeon John and Flynn Adam. These guys have been kicking out some rocking tunes so I was easily inspired to come up with something for them. Check out their latest at the official Rootbeer myspace.

An artistic photo taken by my editor, Greg Barton, of some provoking art on the walls of a building in Sydney known by locals as The Crack House. It smells like pee in there, but well-worth checking out for the walls and walls of creative spirit and random banter. Some other examples below snapped on site taken by my trusty (and still just as cool) gen 2.

Norwegian design studio, Grandpeople, show us where it’s at for the latest image and type treatments. This example is a cd design for artist ‘Juvelen’ (translation: ‘The Jewel’), who must be highly chuffed with his new album image. Juvelen is a pop artist apparently influenced by Prince, so the neon glows and purple taints are oh so suitable. See Grandpeople’s site www.grandpeople.org
