Above is my my basic idea for the second series of t-shirts for an AU based label I’m currently working with. This one is an illo of Missy Higgins I did years ago (a friend suggested I made her look a little retarded, but don’t think it’s too bad - sorry Missy!), but with the addition of bold type as an overlay I think it’s bringing on quite an edgy, ‘Karen Walker’/80’s flavour. The intention is to draw a few more musicians - Raphael Saadiq, Flying Lotus and KOS to name a few, then follow on with this theme somehow. I considered using lyrics, but I think that’s far too complex esp. in the area of copyright.

Some typographic approaches to a magazine cover I’m working on. I have been through about 6 developed concepts so far, 3 more to go. That’s about right for a proper process though I suppose.

MAC is doing something well cool with their make up campaigns at the moment. They are inviting chosen artists to visually interpret a cosmetic collection in their own style. Cool huh? Click the image to view more.

Illustrator Jasper Goodall has pumped out this great new series of work titled ‘Poster Girl’. Fusing his distinctive illustrative style with shiny latex and photography, Goodall explores themes of fetish and fantasy which seem to be ever present in his portfolio. Interesting observations have been made about how over time the colour pink has become associated with sexyness (along with it’s sexual partner black) and how the shininess of polished latex becomes almost fluid-like in texture when stretched over a body. Furthermore, shininess itself seems to have become sexy, whether it’s on a human body (suggesting lubrication) or whether it’s a shiny new car, people often refer to shiny objects as being sexy. To read more of the rationale visit the original post here. These works can be seen at Goodall’s personal website and his earlier works at Big Active

Not quite sure how it works at the moment, but I’ll have to check it out and let you know. Hit this up if you want to see for yourself.

Check these Adidas Superstars I have started drawing on. I have only worked on two sides so far: One is the ‘Ninja Scroll’ side with Tessai and Jubei Kibagami, then the other is the ‘Fushigi Yuugi’ side with Tamahome… although that is still unfinished. More to come!

L.A. based jewelery designer Steven Shein is taking over the world. This busy little bee creates all kinds of wonderful laser cut shapes and typographic phrases which are then converted into the best bling you can buy. Check out the necklace I acquired and if you feel the love then why not view the range for yourself.
