Pump Up The Bass

This is a logo design that I have been working on for Australian DJ ‘Bass Kleph’. It’s inspired by the folded paper font ‘origami’ but completely customized to ensure that each letter slots into the next perfectly. Formerly a breaks focused DJ, Bass Kleph has recently ventured into more electronic grounds in order to keep up with the current market. As a result, the idea behind this design was all about reflecting what is going on in the industry: vinyl and turntables are evolving into mp3s and mixing programs while organic and hand made designs are progressing to synthetic, computer based designs. The folded paper effect preserves the hand-made memory while the mechanical look brings it into the future. The customization of the clef symbol from an organic shape into a sharp angular shape supports this rationale. This particular design is not quite what he is after, so I am in the process of pitching new concepts.

Root For Rootbeer :: Part 2

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Here is the EP artwork for hip-hop act Rootbeer that just went to press in America. These guys were just great to work with - full of inspiration and such easy-going attitudes. Can’t wait to hold this little puppy in my slightly badly circulated hands!

All You Deliver

Play your way to my heart José. An unforgettable performance in Sydney’s City Recital Hall last night rendered me goose-bumped and teary-eyed. Acoustics were breathtaking and the vocals flawless. The soothing voice of an artist like José González will wash away the dirt of any day.

Just My Type

L.A. based jewelery designer Steven Shein is taking over the world. This busy little bee creates all kinds of wonderful laser cut shapes and typographic phrases which are then converted into the best bling you can buy. Check out the necklace I acquired and if you feel the love then why not view the range for yourself.
